On Friday, October 4, manufacturers in California and throughout the U.S. participated in Manufacturing Day. This kicked off a month-long series of events aimed at promoting the industry and recruiting the next generation of manufacturers. A project of the National Association of Manufacturers and the Manufacturing Institute, this annual celebration showcases manufacturing careers by encouraging thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers and community leaders. Throughout the state visitors will learn about real job opportunities, career paths, training, and available industry resources. California Manufacturing Consulting (CMTC) and its California Manufacturing Network have taken an active role in connecting interested schools with Manufacturing Day events, and they hope to facilitate 250 events throughout California.
