This event is for small and medium sized manufacturers engaged in research and development. The results of the workshop will be a blueprint for establishing R&D project clusters through the IMS program to share knowledge, provide broader solutions in less time, reduce research costs, and expand networks through building of domestic and international coalitions.

Event Description
This workshop is designed to bring together industrial representatives who are involved in research and development under the general term “Industry 4.0”, and are receptive to collaborations with others for mutual benefit. The scope of work that falls under this category is represented in the graphic (Source BCG).
The objectives of the workshop include the following:
- Which of the areas within Industry 4.0 are priorities for you (the participant)?
- What are the key barriers and opportunities that you want to tackle?
- What kinds of R&D projects would you consider collaborating on, either domestically, or internationally?
The results of the workshop will be a blueprint for establishing R&D project clusters to share knowledge, provide broader solutions in less time, reduce research costs, and expand networks through building of domestic and international coalitions. In addition to directly helping U.S. manufacturers – especially SMEs – with domestic collaborations, the workshop will allow the U.S. delegation to the Intelligent Manufacturing Systems program (IMS) to properly represent U.S. industry’s interests in the global context, and to seek out appropriate international partners.
This workshop expands on a similar, successful project clustering exercise held earlier this year in the specific area of Additive Manufacturing.
