On June 30, 2016, the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership for Southern California (AMP SoCal) will host an Innovation Forum spotlighting technology transfers occurring through local universities and how to apply them to commercial use. The mission of AMP SoCal is to help strengthen small and medium manufacturers in the region’s aerospace and defense industry. One way to ensure future growth and development is by introducing manufacturers to newly developed technology that can be used to advance their own business practice. Businesses frequently don’t have the resources or skills to develop new technology on their own, but through this innovative approach, knowledge can be shared and the industry as a whole can benefit and sharpen its competitive edge. Join us for this exciting opportunity to connect with technology and advance your business.

AMP SoCal Innovation Forum Series: Technology Transfer
Thursday, June 30 2016 8:30 am – 12:30 pm
University of California, Irvine – Center for Applied Innovation
Technology Transfer is the process of transferring skills, knowledge, technologies, facilities, samples and methods of manufacturing among governments or universities and other institutions to ensure that scientific and technological developments are accessible to a wide range of users who can then further develop and advance the technology into new products, processes, applications, materials or services.
The technology transfer centers from six southern California universities will present current research technology that have practical applications within the aerospace and/or defense industry. Some of the institutions offer an “express license program” which allow for rapid licensing by companies. We are also inviting one of the national laboratories to share information on their technology transfer program.
Who should attend the Technology Transfer Innovation Forum? Aerospace and defense business owners, general managers or business development staff responsible for identifying opportunities for growth.
What can attendees expect at the Technology Transfer Innovation Forum? Each attendee will receive an overview of the types of technology each institution has available for small business use, by category. After the morning presentations, each institution in attendance will be available and have an information table with knowledgeable staff to answer additional questions and guide you on how to schedule appointments to discover how you can access their research.
