Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC) is one of nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District and is located in the San Fernando Valley.  With an enrollment of approximately 18,000 students, LAVC offers a wide range of academic and career technical education programs and transfers its students to the campuses of the CSU and UC systems as well as private institutions.

DEPARTMENT

The Technology Department of LAVC is looking to expand our program in the manufacturing area.  The department works closely with industry to provide high skill, high wage opportunities for students.

JOB DESCRIPTION

In accordance with its mission as a community college, instruction at LAVC focuses on creating pathways for certificates, degrees, and transfer.  Faculty members at LAVC are expected to create a learning-centered environment that supports students in fulfilling their educational goals.  Seeking an instructors, full-time probationary (tenure track).  All instructors are required to teach fifteen hours per week.  The assignment involves curriculum development and evaluation, on-line course development, attendance of department and discipline meetings, professional activities, and college committee work.  Instruction may include day, evening, off-campus, and Saturday courses.  This is a ten month appointment; however, additional summer and winter assignments may be available.

The current starting range is from $54,670 to $85,120 for the ten-month academic year depending on education and experience.  The Ph.D. differential is $3,440 per academic year.  The district provides an excellent benefits package including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents:

  1. Letter of interest, no more than two pages, including a statement of teaching philosophy;
  2. Current descriptive resume that summarizes how you meet the position qualifications;
  3. Three recent signed letters of recommendation (including phone/email contact information);
  4. Copy of all unofficial transcripts from accredited institutions (official transcripts will be required at the time of hiring).  Documentation from an approved foreign transcript evaluator is required for degrees received from other counties.
