The AMP SoCal webinars are free presentations that feature speakers who are experts in valuable topics that provide timely and highly relevant information to aerospace and defense manufacturers. The online productions will be accessible as a live webinar, and are recorded and housed on the AMP SoCal website as part of its growing digital library of business-friendly content. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy, the Clean Energy Smart Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CESMII) brings over $140 million in public-private investment to radically improve the precision, performance and efficiency of U.S. advanced manufacturing. CESMII is the 9th Institute of the Manufacturing USA, established by the White House to spur U.S. innovation, sustainability and competitiveness.
CESMII is a national network of Regional Manufacturing Centers (RMCs) each focused on local relationships with opportunities for national impact in the areas of technology transfer and workforce development. The power of the network is cross-linking resources, capabilities and expertise across business, workforce and technical focus areas, leveraging each region’s unique industrial environments. The regions include the California, Gulfcoast, Southeast, Northeast, Midwest and Northwest. The headquarters is located in Los Angeles, CA.

Speakers:

Jim Davis co-founded the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition (SMLC) that was selected by the US Department of Energy to lead CESMII, the 9th Manufacturing USA Institute and the 3rd Department of Energy institute to be awarded. He is Vice Provost, of IT and CTO at UCLA, responsible for the investment and deployment of information technology in the university’s academic research, education, and public service mission. He oversees UCLA’s Institute for Digital Research and Education. Jim is also on UCLA’s Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering where he has done research and consulting.


Dale Turner is the director of the CESMII California Regional Manufacturing Center (RMC), reporting to the CESMII CEO, and providing executive leadership and financial management for the CESMII California RMC team in establishing the newly awarded national Institute in the California region.  Dale has over 31 years of experience in Department of Defense government operations and services. 16 years of experience at the senior executive level, with demonstrated revenue growth through the entire business development/sales lifecycle, and over 14 years’ experience as a highly successful entrepreneur in the private business sector.
